Penelope 3

Penelope 3

All through the months
And years passing
I've kept faith with you
My errant husband
It is with great difficulties
That I recall the face
Of my royal spouse
Even in my dreams
Your face wears the mask
Of a younger man
On top of your hardened body
How I miss our embraces
How young I was
When brought to your bed
To conceive our son
How long are the years
Since you left me
A young wife with child
A child now grown-up
Without knowing you
His father he never met
The warrior, the hero
He lives for the stories
From travellers recounted.
